Short Trip to La Seu in Spain & Celebrating Springtime

May 14th-May 16th, 2021

Convent in La Seu d’Urgell, SpainHistoric Center of La Seu d’UrgellLa Seu d’Urgell is the closest Spanish town to Andorra, in the region of Alt d’Urgell. It was only about a 45 minute bus ride from Escaldes, and some people even commute from there to Andorra. The Bishop of La Seu is also one of the co-princes of Andorra. La Seu is a beautiful place because it has a view of the Pyrenees, but it’s not as closed in as Andorra.I decided to visit because I heard there’s a market there every Saturday and to finally explore something outside of the tiny principality. I had heard that people living in Andorra can often feel a little trapped by the mountains, or feel like they are living in an island, and I have been feeling that too!

A Lovely Evening in Andorra

I can´t think of a better way to end this short adventure than with a delicious meal and a gorgeous meal. I finally had the chance to try the Paella at the restaurant I walk past on my way back from work. It was worth the wait!

Paella with a view of Iglesia de Santa Coloma

I also missed the bus so we walked over 40 minutes from Andorra la Vella to Santa Coloma both ways, and I sure got my steps in.. over 30,000!

Celebrating Springtime at the Andorran National Orchestra´s Springtime Concert and La Massana´s Spring Festival

On Sunday I attended my second concert at the Andorran National Auditorium. It was a wonderful musical performance that also included a little acting. It turns out one of my students who came to language tables the following week was actually one of the violin players!

Finally, I also got to go to the flower festival in La Massana. Spring is in the air!
